The Path Towards Enlightment

Hey Guys!

My name is Dev and today I am going to talk about why one should read books.

Today we are digitally connected to everybody and everything. If you want anything just order it and you will get it in few hours or days. Also we are exposed to an enormous amount of information. In morning after waking up we are bombarded with a ton of information but 80% of that information is irrelevant or some useless thing which doesn’t concern us. The small device which we call mobile phone is filled with junk as well as useful things. 90% of the things on our phone is junk. We all consume this information at a very high speed. Just a swipe and the information is gone to our brain. Well you should know that we have a limited amount of capacity to consume the information so one must consume the things one needs. This all junk majorly comes from internet and social media. I am not saying that you should quit all this. I am saying that you have to just filter it. Many people scroll through social media and take in random junk and this affects our decision taking ability. Too much information leads to a condition called mental fatigue. In this condition the affected person cannot take correct decision when given a choice. Here comes the books. Books give you only that information which you want . You can also use the internet but again there you will be bombarded with ads and other hyperlinks which are unnecessary for you.

We all start reading books in early stage of life. But as we grow older our interest of reading fades away and then the distractions come in our life. But do you know that reading is one of the habits of successful people. For example take Warren Buffet. He reads approximately 10 newspaper every morning. Another is Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft. He reads 3-4 books every month . Jay Shetty, a podcaster who runs the number one podcast “On Purpose” reads 40-50 books a year. In short successful people has a habit of reading books. These people read only the things they want to know. They don’t read some random junk. My point is you should also start a habit of reading. If you are a student then this habit will really help you in your studies as well as in life. If you don’t have a habit of reading this is the right time to making reading a habit.

Now as we are clear about reading we will talk about books. Books are the best thing in whole world. They will take you to another world. Once the habit of reading starts you will be grateful that you started reading books as there are many great people with whom you can sit and consume the information. If you want to know about finances you can read Rich Dad Poor Dad. Bingo! You have an appointment with Robert Kiyosaki. Well its not physically, you will feel like you had a chat with him. This happens with all the books you read. If you are reading a fictional book you will feel as if it is happening with you. This will help you to enhance your creativity. Also the author puts everything in his book about which he knows. By reading them you come to know about mistakes the author did and you can avoid them in future. Also you will learn many new approaches to life.

Reading books comes with a lot of advantages like improving you memory, increasing you brain power, improving you focus and lastly positivity. I have been reading since I was in primary school and it has impacted a lot. My first book was “Reignited” by Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. It was a blessing for me because it helped me choose my career. Books have impacted many peoples lives. They will also impact yours if you start reading them. You will have a new perspective toward life which will lead to betterment of your life. Lastly I would like to say that start reading books. It is an investment which has very powerful returns.

Thanks for reading!
